#4 Top Rated Seller Tip-Surprise Your Buyers with FREE Gifts
Everyone likes to get FREE stuff. Doesn't really matter what it is as long as it's free. I will soon be 62 years old & I still remember a shirt my mom bought me when I was about 6 or 7. It had a free notepad in the pocket. The brand was Buster Brown. The shirt was bought at a department store in Jasper, Al named Weinsteins. Anyone that knows me personally knows that my memory is shot, BUT I remember that shirt as if it was bought yesterday. FREE is powerful.
To keep your buyers coming back & make them happy surprise them with FREE gifts. It doesn't have to be much as long as it is FREE. To be cost effective the FREE gifts you give your customers should be cheap to buy and cheap to ship. The FREE gifts that I give most often cost me 40 cents each in quantities & weigh less than an ounce. I can include one in almost any order without running my shipping costs up. I recently bought a bunch of factory sealed VHS for 10 cents each. Since they weigh 8-10 ounces it is not cost effective to include them in a lot of orders but if it is a Priority Mail shipment I can many times include one of these with no additional cost in shipping. Some are golf videos. I sell a lot of polo shirts from PGA events & country clubs. Imagine the buyer's surprise when they receive their golf shirt and included is a golf video. They may not even have a VHS player any longer but that really doesn't matter. It was FREE!
A word of CAUTION. If you are selling media items & ship Media Mail do NOT include any free item that is not media. If you do and your package is inspected you or your buyer will be charged either the 1st Class or Priority rate. FREE is powerful but not when you have to pay extra to get it.
