When I buy an item online the seller has my money & I expect the seller to ship MY item as soon as possible. I ship almost everything USPS. I ship 6 days a week. If the local post office was open 7 days I would ship 7 days a week. I don't have control over much but I DO have control of how long it is before I ship. That is one reason I would never drop ship. If you do drop ship some items put something in your listing telling the buyer there may be a delay. For several years I bought most of my shipping supplies from one company. All of my orders were shipped the day I ordered or the next day. I was very happy. When I was in the market for s shrink-wrap system I ordered it from this company without even looking at the prices of other suppliers. Nothing on their web site said there would be a delay in shipping this item. It did not arrive until 2 weeks later because it was being shipped across the country. I have never bought anything from this supplier again.
One of the few eBay changes that have been made recently is in requiring you to post a handling time. When I buy something I usually want it yesterday. Many times the shipping time is more important to me than the price.
I have never liked Amazon's shipping times. If you buy an item on Amazon from a 3rd party seller on Thursday night they are not required to ship until Monday. That is too long. If you buy an item from me on Amazon on Thursday night it will be mailed Friday. One improvement Amazon has recently made is not charging the buyer until the item is confirmed shipped by the seller. Maybe this will speed up some Amazon 3rd party sellers.
