#25 Top Rated Seller Tip-Use Large Photos

There is no reason left to use small photos in your listings. The average age of the internet user is increasing each year. We older folks don't see as well as you young'uns. We need larger photos. The online sites have recognized this and most are now providing enlarged photos. This doesn't help if you still upload small photos. eBay is now recommending between 1000 and 1600 pixels on the longer side. These are huge photos, but eBay has realized the small photos that were offered in the past were not sufficient.
Etsy is recommending even larger photos. Here are their recommendations:
Your images must be at least 430 pixels wide, or they will appear blurry.
We recommend that your image is around 1,000 pixels wide so shoppers can "zoom" to see a larger version.
Image files should be .jpg, .gif or .png file format and around 250k in file size (maximum size allowed is 2mb).
Etsy will automatically resize your images for thumbnails (75x75 pixels ) and gallery images (155x125 pixels)
As you can see there is not even any need to try to reduce the file size when they are hosting your photos. They automatically do this for you. eBay does the same.
For years I have hosted my own photos when listing on eBay because I wanted larger photos. Now there are not many reasons left for me to host my own photos, especially for the one of a kind items I most frequently list.
