If you host your own photos you should use alt tags or attributes. I believe alt attributes is now the correct term. I learned html when it was called alt tag & have a hard time using anything else. An alt tag furnishes text telling what the photo is of when the photo itself does not show. It also helps the search spiders find your photo. Google has a very good video explaining this. If you upload your photos to eBay they automatically do this. To see what they put just run your mouse over any photo you have uploaded to eBay.
