How eBay can get their traffic back

Yesterday in a post I  explained why ebay's traffic is down while amazon's is up. Today I will tell you how eBay can get their traffic back.

Effective January 1 eBay should make all listings free with free photo hosting. John Donahoe keeps saying the seller must have some "skin in the game". Sellers have a lot more skin in the game than eBay does. When a seller goes out and sources a product, prepares it for listing and goes to the trouble to list it on the site they have a lot of skin in the game.

In return for no listing fees eBay should have the right to monetize the listing in any way they see fit. This could be with affiliate ads, banner ads, AdSense ads, etc. It will be theirs to do with as they see fit.

The FVF should remain the same but should apply to the total price. (sale price + S & H)

All items listed on the site should be available in search. Search would take into account total price.

The feedback system should be scrapped and a new system should be devised where the total number of transactions is prominent. There should be a system where a buyer can contact eBay with a problem only after contacting the seller first. The number of times a buyer has to contact eBay would be displayed on the listing. Buyers would be allowed only a certain number of these calls to eBay. This number would be a percentage of how many transactions the buyer had participated in. ebay would have to step up to the plate and have highly trained personnel to handle all buyer complaints

There should only be one account allowed per household. Anyone with more than one account would have 30 days to pick the account they wanted to keep. Any account that has not been used in the last 60 days should be given 30 days to confirm that the account holder would like to keep it, otherwise that name would be come available. This would give a true accounting of exactly how may users there actually are on eBay. In addition, all stores should be closed.

eBay should function as a venue only. They claim this now when it is in their best interests. Other times they seem to think they own every item that is for sale on the site.

eBay should realize that the only customers they have are sellers. No sellers. No eBay.

A seller or former seller should be appointed to the board. Would be a good idea to allow the sellers to nominate and elect the seller they wanted to represent them on the board.  John Lawson of ColderIce.com amd  Skip McGrath of skipmcgrath.com are just 2  that comes to mind that would do a great job of representing the sellers on the board.

I have many more ideas but eBay is not listening so I will quit wasting my time and yours

Good Day!
